hiking in sedona

sedona really is as beautiful as everyone says!

it seems not being able to find our intended hike is a common theme. no worries, with views like this just get out walk. we drove down a bumpy rocky 4×4 road for about a mile before we freaked out and parked. we’re not a 4×4 but we were more afraid of damage to the underside of the truck vs getting stuck. got to be gentle on sonny the sequoia.

we did not hike the chuckwagon trail but the sign and view was pretty14

when we were “you are here”, we decided that there were too many people on the devils bridge trail and decided to head down to the brins mesa trail. from the car it was 2.5 miles to the brins mesa trailhead, then we hiked brins to soldier pass. then things got a little sketchy. do we keep going and make a loop to get back to where we parked or do we turn around and backtrack. never one to love to backtrack, we marched forward!map

poor scout. he was tired. i had to go in front and help him down. can’t let your crew get hurt!56

and what you climb down, you must climb back up57

can’t really complain at all! great weather, great scenery, great hiking companions, and a body that can hike. no complaints at all even after 6 hours & 11 miles of hiking!
