a short but strenuous hike outside of sedona off the picturesque oak canyon (hwy 89A)
sterling pass trail leads over a high saddle from oak creek canyon into nearby and equally scenic sterling canyon. the climb is steep right from the trailhead, about 1,120 feet up and 1.5 miles to the saddle. then another 1.5 miles and 800 feet down to see the vultee arch.
had a little lunch while looking at the arch. then back up and over the mountain.
you know it’s steep when you’re on your toes!
burnt trees are sad but still pretty
mike’s trying to take a photo of us but s&s are rough housing and knocking into me
pretty, pretty views
worms make some really cool patterns
there’s the arch!
i was pointing at the arch. just a little off the mark
i like how the trees look so tiny
and bam! full moon! thanks to mike for taking this photo. i was concentrating on where my feet were landing, so i wouldn’t fall. i didn’t even see the moon!
