great weekend hikes

on saturday, we took the day off from snowboarding and did a little hiking. it was sunny and in the mid 50s. couldn’t ask for much more. however we found more!

the first hike was going to be the fallen leaf lake trail. since the weather was so nice, it seemed like everyone was out enjoying it. too many people at the trailhead. so we went down the forest road a little further and stopped at an empty parking area. we ended up walking along a tree clearing road. we were able to enjoy both the forest and the lake.

then we found a NFS closed up building on the water. and they had a pier. we probably weren’t suppose to be there, but there were no signs. it was so peaceful, i could have relaxed there all afternoon. scout didn’t think it was too bad either.

when we got back to the car, we decided to drive all the way around the lake. the water is so pretty. blue. green.

the drive took a couple of hours and when we got on the nevada/east side we decided to stop for another hike. we found a random parking area and stopped. after a couple of miles or so of walking on a nice dirt road, this is what we found

apparently this used to be a residence before the park service bought the land. i’d be happy to fix up the house and hang out!

the sun was starting to set, so we headed back to the car. it’s amazing that you rarely notice that you are going downhill, until you start back uphill!

the cool part of both of these hikes is that we had no idea what we would see. we just stopped and walked. i love when you find things you weren’t looking for
