the 50 degree days are killing the snowboarding but making the hiking great! yesterday we headed up towards mt tallac. between the extra mileage of having to walk from the closed gate, stopping to sightsee, snowplowing in our boots, and eating lunch we only made it to floating island lake. my pedometer said 6.5 miles, so a nice leg stretcher!
always a fun feeling when you start to climb as soon as the hike starts
i came around the corner and found this. he’s down. right in the middle of the path
actually he was rolling around in the snow. he’s funny to watch. he launches himself down
what’s ever funnier is sam never rolled in the snow. but i guess after watching scout have so much fun, he thought he’d give it a try. all 4 paws in the air!
the views along the ridgeline were spectacular
that’s lake tahoe on the left and fallen leaf lake on the right
this tree was cool. it looked like it was dead but still standing strong
this photo is untouched. i love how the green bushes match my jacket
we stopped for lunch at the lake. that white stuff on the bottom of the photo is the lake!
all the boys have on their orange. everyone eating a little snack and enjoying th sunshine
the trees are so big that you can fit inside of them
man down! man down! well, woman down! i thought i would try a snow angel. the guys decided to use me as a jumping obstacle. thanks fellas!
we meet a nice guy who was hiking back down from the top. yeah, i don’t think we could have made it. it’s still extremely snow covered. too dangerous. but we’ll probably try to go farther next time. he volunteered to take a family photo
